Did you know Netball was invented in the United States? Although it is relatively unknown here now it was invented in 1895 by Clara Gregory Baer as the women's alternative to basketball. It is the pre-eminent women's team sport in Australia and New Zealand and it is very popular in the West Indies, Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom. Over 20 million people play netball in more than 70 countries! Next stop for netball, the 2012 Olympics in London.
There is a very comprehensive explanation of the history and the rules on wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netball) but, as with everything else, the best way to learn it is to play it. Come join us!
